Google Index Check

What is a Google Index Check?

A Google Index Check is a coverage report created using Google Search Console that shows what pages on a particular website Google has attempted to crawl, which pages have been indexed, and also identifies any problems found in the process.

Information on Google Index Check:

Why is a Google Index Check important to SEO?

Your website must be indexed by Google to have any chance at ranking for specific keywords because their algorithms are created to find and list the most relevant results among millions of websites.

This is why it is important to have Google consistently scan and index all pages and content on your website to increase the probability of showing up in a search result (SERP).

Errors prevent Google from scanning and indexing a page, such as:

  • URL cannot be found (404)
  • Redirect errors
  • Server errors
  • Pages blocked by robots.txt files
  • etc

It Google cannot find and analyze a page, it will not rank it – therefore making this page “invisible” until fixed.

Frequent index checking will ensure Google has the most up-to-date information about your website and you are notified of any errors on your site that need to be fixed.
